Both Are Forged. The Similarities End There.
Vossen and MV Forged both make fully forged wheels. Both use quality aluminum billet. Both produce wheels that are significantly lighter and stronger than cast alternatives. If that's all you're comparing, they look equivalent.
They're not equivalent. The difference is in how each brand approaches the product, who they're built for, and what the buying and owning experience looks like. At Lusso Auto Design in Las Vegas, we install both. Here's the honest comparison.
Vossen Forged, S Series & M Series
Construction
Vossen's forged lineup consists of the S series (monoblock, machined from a single forged billet) and the M series (multi-piece, separate forged face, barrel, and lip). Both are legitimate forged construction. The S series monoblock is the more structurally rigid option with no assembly points. The M series allows more customization of width, offset, and finish combinations.
Availability & Lead Time
Vossen forged wheels are produced on a semi-custom basis with relatively shorter lead times than fully made-to-order brands, typically 4 to 8 weeks. They maintain more inventory infrastructure than pure custom brands, which speeds up the process for common configurations.
Design Catalog
Vossen's forged lineup offers a defined design catalog, a set of spoke patterns and profiles that you choose from. The customization is in size, offset, and finish. If a design doesn't exist in their catalog, you can't get it through Vossen. This is a reasonable limitation for most clients.
Aesthetic
Vossen forged wheels look like Vossen wheels. Clean, contemporary, recognizable. If you follow car culture and aftermarket wheels, you know the brand on sight. The brand recognition cuts both ways, it signals quality and taste to people who know, but it's not anonymous if that's what you want.
Pricing
Vossen S and M series forged: $5,000-$15,000 for a set depending on size and configuration.
MV Forged, Fully Custom
Construction
MV Forged produces monoblock and multi-piece fully forged wheels made entirely to order. There is no standard catalog. Every wheel is built from a specification sheet you provide, diameter, width, offset, spoke count, spoke shape, lip profile, finish, center cap. The wheel that gets manufactured is the wheel you designed.
Availability & Lead Time
Because MV Forged produces nothing until an order is placed, lead times are longer, typically 8 to 12 weeks from confirmed specification. This isn't a limitation, it's a function of the product. You're not waiting for inventory. You're waiting for manufacturing.
Design Flexibility
Unlimited. If you can specify it, MV Forged can build it. Spoke counts, custom profiles, fully bespoke designs, sizes that don't exist in any standard catalog, all available. For clients who have a specific vision that doesn't exist off the shelf, MV Forged is the answer that Vossen (or almost any other brand) can't provide.
Aesthetic
Whatever you specify. MV Forged wheels don't have a house aesthetic because every wheel is custom. The brand recognition is zero, which for some clients is exactly the point. Nobody can identify what you're running. The wheel speaks for itself.
Pricing
MV Forged custom forged: $6,000-$20,000+ depending on complexity and specification.
The Decision
- You want a specific well-known design with a faster turnaround? → Vossen forged
- You want something that doesn't exist in any catalog? → MV Forged
- Brand recognition matters to you? → Vossen
- You want the wheel to be completely original? → MV Forged
- You have a non-standard fitment requirement? → MV Forged's custom sizing solves this; Vossen's catalog may or may not
- Lead time is a priority? → Vossen has a slight edge here
For most clients building at a high level who want quality forged wheels with a recognized design, Vossen forged is the right call. For clients who want something entirely bespoke, or whose vehicle has fitment requirements that no standard catalog addresses, MV Forged is the answer.
