Why Custom Wheels Change Everything

Wheels are the single most visible modification you can make to a vehicle. They set the stance, define the aesthetic, and communicate the build's direction from across a parking lot. The wrong wheels on the right car look worse than stock. The right wheels on the right car make it look like a completely different vehicle.

At Lusso Auto Design in Las Vegas, we've installed custom wheels on everything from daily drivers to six-figure exotics. We know what works, what doesn't, and how to spec a wheel setup that looks intentional rather than random.

Understanding Wheel Specs: What Actually Matters

Before you start browsing wheels, you need to understand the specs that determine whether a wheel will fit your vehicle properly.

Diameter

Measured in inches. Most modern performance and luxury vehicles run 19-22" wheels from the factory. Going up in diameter fills the wheel well better and creates a more aggressive stance. Going too large can cause rubbing, reduce ride quality, and require suspension modification.

Width

Wider wheels support wider tires, which improve grip and visual stance. However, width needs to work in proportion with the offset to keep the tire inside the fender. Staggered fitments, wider in the rear than the front, are common on rear-wheel-drive performance cars.

Offset

Offset is the distance between the wheel's mounting face and its centerline. Low offset pushes the wheel outward, creating a poke look. High offset pushes the wheel inward, tucking it under the fender. Getting offset wrong causes rubbing, accelerated bearing wear, and handling issues.

Bolt Pattern & Center Bore

Non-negotiable. The bolt pattern must match your vehicle exactly. The center bore of the wheel must match or be compatible with your hub size, hub-centric rings are used when the bore is larger than the hub to prevent vibration at speed.

The Brands We Work With

Vossen

Vossen is arguably the most recognizable name in custom aftermarket wheels in the US. Their HF hybrid forged and HC hybrid cast series are extremely popular on luxury SUVs and sedans. Their CVT and VPS series are iconic on European performance cars. Exceptional finish quality and extensive fitment range.

KMC

One of the most respected American wheel brands, known for aggressive styling at accessible price points. A go-to for trucks, SUVs, and off-road-inspired builds with strong quality control and a huge range of fitments.

Giovanna

Giovanna specializes in luxury and exotic fitments. Their wheels are designed specifically for European vehicles, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini, Ferrari. If you're running a G-Wagon or an AMG and want something that looks intentionally designed for that vehicle, Giovanna belongs in the conversation.

MV Forged

Full monoblock and multi-piece forged wheels made to order. Forged wheels are lighter and stronger than cast wheels of the same size because the aluminum is compressed under extreme pressure during manufacturing. For track use, aggressive power builds, or anyone who wants the best available, forged is the standard.

Fitment: Why Getting This Right Matters

This is where most bad wheel jobs fall apart. A wheel might look great in photos but sit wrong on the actual vehicle, sitting too far in, poking past the fender, or rubbing on the inner fender liner under load. Proper fitment requires knowing your vehicle's suspension geometry, fender clearance, and how the wheel interacts with the tire profile you're running. We don't guess, we spec every fitment before ordering.
