The 930 Turbo S Restomod

Every Porsche has a story. This one began in 1980 as a humble 911 SC. Forty years later it left our shop as a wide-body 930 Turbo S, rebuilt from the metal up, finished with OEM Porsche components, and tuned to deliver sharper boost and faster spool than any factory turbo of its era. This is the build, chapter by chapter.

    It started as a 1980 911 SC

A humble narrow-body 911 SC, sun-faded and stock. The bones were honest, the spec was ordinary. The brief was anything but, turn this car into a 930 Turbo S that could hold its own next to anything in the garage.

    Reborn as a wide-body 930 Turbo S

Forty years on, the SC was reimagined as a 930 Turbo S, wide arches, factory aggressive stance, deep matte orange that catches the desert light without ever shouting.

Front trunk open on the orange 930, walking through body refinish

Stripped to bare metal, then refinished

Every panel came off. The body was taken to bare metal and refinished with OEM polyurethane and genuine Porsche components, finished to factory spec, not to look new, but to look correct.

Rear three-quarter of the 930 Turbo S showing wide body and OEM whale tail

    Every panel and trim, replaced

From the rear quarters to the smallest piece of trim, every exterior surface was sourced new and fitted by hand. The wide rear hips frame the OEM whale tail with the geometry the factory always intended.

Closeup of OEM whale tail grille on the 930 Turbo S

    Factory-spec, down to the grille

The whale tail grille, badging, vents, every visible detail uses Porsche components, factory finishes, factory geometry. Restomod, not replica.

Closeup of upgraded LED headlight in factory housing

    LED clarity, OEM aesthetic

Lighting was upgraded to modern LED internals, sharper output, better night driving, without giving up the round Porsche eyes that make a 930 a 930.

Custom 3-piece Fouque wheel in matte black with gold Porsche crest center cap

Custom matte black 3-piece Fouque wheels

The car sits on a custom set of 3-piece Fouque wheels in matte black, built specifically for stance and grip. Wider in the rear, perfectly tucked into the wide-body arches, factory crest in gold dead-center.

Cabin shot from passenger side, walking through interior rebuild

    Stripped, dynamat-lined, rebuilt

Inside, the cabin was taken back to a shell. Dynamat throughout for sound isolation, then everything you touch, seats, panels, headliner, built back up to a higher standard than it ever left the factory with.

Italian leather seat with houndstooth inserts and orange accent stitching

Hand-cut Italian leather, orange accent stitching

Seats, dash, door cards, wrapped in hand-cut Italian leather with houndstooth inserts and orange accent stitching that ties into the exterior. Subtle, but it's the detail you keep noticing.

Momo Prototipo steering wheel with houndstooth and orange-stitched dash behind

    Momo Prototipo wheel, Rennline pedals

A Momo Prototipo steering wheel and Rennline aluminum pedals, the right hardware in the right places. Period-correct cues, sharper feel, no compromise.

Focal subwoofer install with sound deadening visible behind it

    Focal, Mosconi, Audio Control

A full audio rebuild using Focal speakers, Mosconi amplification, and Audio Control processing. Hidden, but engineered for crystal clarity, without disturbing the OEM aesthetic anywhere it shows.

Wide cabin shot with Momo wheel, gauges, and houndstooth door panel

    Vintage Air AC, custom panels

Vintage Air climate control was integrated behind custom panels so the dash still reads 1980, but the cabin lives in 2025. Daily-driveable in Vegas heat, without a modern screen anywhere in sight.

Custom houndstooth-trimmed panel inside the orange front trunk

    Custom panels, Porsche details

The frunk, the visors, the small interior surfaces, all custom-fabricated and trimmed in matching materials. The kind of details you only see when the hood comes up.

Turbocraft long-neck intercooler installed in the engine bay of the 930

    Turbocraft long-neck intercooler

Under the deck lid, a Turbocraft long-neck intercooler replaces the OEM unit, larger surface area, denser charge, tucked in like it belongs there.

Engine bay open, walking through the Garrett turbocharger upgrade

    Upgraded Garrett turbocharger

Paired with an upgraded Garrett turbocharger, the result is sharper boost, faster spool, and a powerband that pulls harder and earlier than the factory K27 ever did.

Finished orange 930 Turbo S, front three-quarter, wide-body, on the lot

Sharper boost, faster spool, the right kind of period-correct

What rolled out of the shop is a Porsche that drives the way a 930 should have driven from the factory, only sharper, quieter on the highway, louder where it counts. This isn't just a restoration. It's how we think a 930 Turbo S should be built.
