Coating is only as good as the paint underneath it, so every coating booked at the Henderson shop starts with correction and decontamination in our own bay.
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to the clear coat and cures into a harder, slicker surface. What that buys you is chemical resistance and easier washing: contamination sits on top of the coating instead of biting into the paint, and most of it comes off with less contact.
Henderson gives paint two specific problems that a coating helps with. The first is hard water. Sprinkler overspray and rinse water in this valley are heavy in minerals, and when that dries in direct sun it etches. The second is UV load that never really lets up. A coated car does not stop either from happening, but it gives you a window to rinse the water off before it etches, and it slows the oxidation.

The single most common mistake we correct is a coating applied over swirled paint. Coating is transparent and permanent for its service life, so anything sealed underneath is locked in. That is why correction comes first here rather than being sold as an upgrade.

A coating goes on corrected paint, so every booking starts with paint correction and detailing. If your car is taking rock chips on the freeway, coating alone will not stop them, and the fix is paint protection film across the front end with the coating layered over it.
